Outside in Ohio: A Century of Unexpected Genius

-

This exhibition showcases a century of self-taught artists in Ohio. The works represent 100 years of creative expression by 18 Ohio artists who never studied art, never hung out in museums and never expected to become known as artists. Highlighting 20th and 21st century artwork in a variety of media, “Outside in Ohio” surveys the unconventional and distinct personal styles of some of Ohio’s most unforeseen artists.

Jack Earl: Modern Master – A Retrospective

-

An Ohio treasure, Jack Earl’s ceramic sculpture transforms the everyday into the extraordinary. With his keen sense of humor and exceptional craftsmanship, Jack depicts the people and places in his life as engaging, magical tableaus and sculptures. Mothers, icons, and men with dogs courting, we see humanity and relationships laid out before us. Regional references, family values, and wit combine to make this clay work universally appealing.

FUNNIES: Paintings and Drawings by Alan Crockett

Apr 6–Jun 2, 2013

This exhibition presents large, explosive canvases, full of color and discovery. Professor Crockett’s paintings record deliberate acts; they are tracings of what has been made, unmade, and remade, and present a topography that hovers between the threshold of meaning and the destruction of meaning. This is the artist’s act of discovery through paint.
