
2014 Congressional Art Competition
Mar 29-Apr 14, 2014The 2014 Congressional Art Competition, “An Artistic Discovery,” aims to showcase the artistic talents of 8th District high school students. The competition is open to high school students (grades 9-12), who are residents of the 8th Congressional District.
The work of art that is awarded the GRAND PRIZE will hanging in the U.S. Capitol for one year, along with other winning pieces from students around the country. The winning artist may receive free round-trip airfare for the national winners’ reception in Washington, D.C., and be eligible for a $3000/year scholarship to a renowned college of arts and design. FIRST PLACE artwork will hang in the Office of the Speaker of the House for one year. Winners will be announced at a community reception at Springfield Museum of Art on April 5.
